Blog #36 – ENTHUSIASM AND ITS IMPACT ON WHAT YOU DO
During my lifetime, I have observed how enthusiasm positively impacts those around me. Since I began elementary school, until the present time, I have made a conscious effort to be enthusiastic about everything that I do. Following my commitment to doing things that I enjoy and always doing my best in everything that I do, I have found that I feel happy most of the time, which translates to me being enthusiastic. Enthusiasm is contagious. My experience is that students that I have taught or students that I have coached, were motivated by what I expressed when teaching them or coaching them. I shared similar experiences when parenting my children or when socializing with other people. Sharing the love of teaching or love of life inspires those around you to pursue the same positive feelings. Those around you can tell if your enthusiasm is real. Never pretend to be enthusiastic. I have always accepted the responsibility of being a positive role model. I model everything that I teach to students, to children, to grandchildren, to relatives, and to friends. I spend more time showing others instead of telling them what to do. As I stated earlier, doing things that you enjoy and doing your best in everything you do are two things that will make you happy and will result in exhibiting enthusiasm in the things that you do.
